College profile

Shenzhen University's School of Fine Arts and Design, affiliated with the Division of Arts at Shenzhen University, was established in 2019 through the integration of the original Department of Fine Arts at Shenzhen Normal University and the original School of Art and Design at Shenzhen University. Professor Chen Xiangbing, Deputy Director of the Division of Arts, also serves as the Dean of the School of Fine Arts and Design, with Professor Luo Ying, Associate Professor Xu Hui, and Dr. Wang Xin as Vice Deans.

The college comprises 9 departments, including Fine Arts, Creative Planning and Design Management, Visual Communication Design, Environmental Design, Product Design, Fashion Design, Digital Media Art, the Foundation Department, and Continuing Education. With a faculty of 88 members, including 11 professors, 24 associate professors, and 17 assistant professors, most faculty members have overseas study or work experience. Currently, there are 1,334 full-time undergraduate students enrolled. The college is equipped with top-notch facilities and institutions such as the Shenzhen University Art Gallery, the Provincial Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Art Design, the Shenzhen Modern Art and Design Research Center, and the Shenzhen University-Tencent Customer Research & User Experience Design Lab. Over the past five years, the college has undertaken 7 national-level projects, 19 provincial and ministerial-level projects, and 45 municipal-level longitudinal research projects, with a total funding of over RMB 12 million. They have published 29 monographs, over 1,100 academic papers, including more than 180 articles indexed by CSSCI and SCI, and have received 7 awards for scientific research achievements at the provincial and ministerial levels, demonstrating their commitment to building a high-level disciplinary system and talent training mechanism.
