The Arts Education Center of the Division of Arts at Shenzhen University was established in October 2021. It aims to further implement the ""Opinions of the General Office of the State Council on Strengthening and Improving Comprehensive School Arts Education"" and the ""Opinions of the Ministry of Education on Strengthening Arts Education in Higher Education in the New Era,"" implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, guided by the core socialist values, promoting the spirit of Chinese arts education, and enhancing students' aesthetic and humanistic literacy.
The work of the Arts Education Center mainly focuses on four directions: research of the inheritance and promotion of outstanding traditional Chinese culture in arts education; practice and application of art education and aesthetic education; arts education services in the Greater Bay Area and the integration of arts education from primary to tertiary levels; promotion and exchange of achievements in arts education. In line with the national and Shenzhen ""Dual Zone"" development strategy, following the laws of development of higher education in art and the demand for cultivating high-level artistic talents, the Arts Education Center seizes the opportunity of the national development strategy for arts education. It fully leverages the advantages of the Division of Arts in art education and traditional culture research and practice, achieving the significant educational goal of ""educating people through arts education, beautifying people, nurturing hearts with beauty, and cultivating talents through beauty."" It comprehensively promotes the development and enhancement of arts education in universities and the construction and development of art disciplines.
The Arts Education Center, serving as a medium for arts education, actively builds a platform for talent gathering. Its team members include professional teachers and administrative staff from the Division of Arts, as well as teachers and relevant personnel from interdisciplinary fields within and outside the university who are passionate about arts education. It further optimizes and integrates the theoretical resources of the Faculty of Arts at Shenzhen University, as well as talent in various art disciplines such as music and dance, drama and film studies, fine arts, and design. This includes experts serving as judges for the UNESCO New Frontier Design Award, members of the Ministry of Education's first Art Major Exam Enrollment Guidance Committee, national art science planning project review experts, recipients of the Ministry of Education's Advanced Individuals in the Popularization and Promotion of National Common Language and Writing, members of the China Association for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Digital Heritage Committee, high-contributing scholars at Chinese universities, recipients of the May 1 Labor Medal in Guangdong Province, and experts in the Shenzhen Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Expert Committee. Gradually, it forms a strong interdisciplinary research and application team for arts education, social services in the Greater Bay Area, and promotion of arts education.
