Program Introduction

Established in 1996, this program was the first in South China to offer undergraduate education in theater and film performance. In 2011, it obtained authorization to award a master’s degree in “Drama and Film Studies”. The program currently has 18 faculty members, including 7 professors and associate professors, and 6 with PhDs. The laboratory area covers 2,270 square meters, (including an experimental theater, studio, dance rehearsal room, black box theater, recording room, and concert hall). Based on Shenzhen University’s high-level development, this program focuses on training urban theater and film professionals, contributing to the construction of the “dual-zone” cultural and spiritual development.

Training Features

The Acting Arts program has adhered to a balanced teaching philosophy that emphasizes both classic and experimental approaches over the years. It actively explores diversified forms and developmental pathways in drama and film acting, aiming to cultivate applied and innovative talents. Graduates are expected to be well-suited for roles in professional performing arts troupes, cultural institutions, corporate cultural departments, and primary and secondary schools, engaging in drama and film acting as well as teaching. These talents are characterized by good personal qualities (individuality), strong foundational knowledge (professional expertise), quick adaptability to new tasks (business skills), and swift capacity for transformation (adaptability).
